HCA MAIL RECEPTACLE RESOLUTION MODS PROPOSED
A member of the HCA Board of Directors recently proposed draft modifications to HCA General Resolution 15, Goodman House Mail Receptacles, in response to neighbor requests, and because exterior-mounted mailboxes are used in other Reston clusters. The Gibralter Townhouse exterior-mounted mailbox shown above was suggested as one possible standard because it is readily available at Home Depot. Although through-door mailslots are an original as-built Goodman House architectural detail, currently 11 of 90 Hickory Cluster residences have exterior-mounted mailboxes in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors. There are none in Block 1, one in Block 2, and ten in Block 3. However, no exterior-mounted mailboxes are currently approved by the RA Design Review Board for use on Hickory Cluster Goodman Houses. And HCA General Resolution 15 does not require Goodman House owners to remove existing non-confirming mailboxes until they sell their homes.
